If you’re scrambling for last-minute teacher gift ideas, this post is for you!
First, take a deep breath – we’ve all accidentally left someone important off our Christmas shopping list at some point, and there is still time to make things right.
I’ve put together this list of great teacher gift ideas you can get at the last minute without putting too big of a dent in your wallet, because let’s face it: if you forgot to buy their gift, you probably also forgot to budget for it!
Here are my best inexpensive last-minute teacher gift ideas!
1. Tea gift boxes from Tettiera
Treat your child’s teacher to a relaxing cuppa with a tea gift box from Tettiera. This local business has really lovely products in different price ranges. I like the reasonably-priced Teacups and Biscuits Gift Box because it’s the perfect combination of something consumable – which we all love to get during the holidays – with something they can keep – a teacup with a gorgeous tile pattern!
If that one is outside your budget, take a look at the Miniature Tea Gift Box. This adorable box contains 10 different tea sacks with a range of blends. What teacher wouldn’t welcome herbal infusions labelled Tranquility and Comfort? They’ve also thrown some fun flavours into the mix, like Berry Compote and Cocoa Chai. In short, this box has a little bit of everything!
This festive season they even have their first ever shop-in-shop at Grey and Adler in Naxxar!
2. A live plant
A live plant is a great teacher gift because it’s something no one can ever have too many of – and if, for some reason, their home really is overflowing with greenery, they could leave it in the classroom and turn caring for it into a classroom project. If you’re particularly crafty, you could even customise the pot depending on how much time you have. If not, a nice heartfelt note is the perfect added touch.
3. A donation to the teacher’s favourite cause
If you know the teacher well, consider making a last-minute donation to a charity that is close to them. For example, if your child’s teacher has made no secret of her fondness for dogs, consider making a donation in her name to a local dog rescue or pet-related charity.
One of the best things about this gift is that you may not even need to leave home to pull it off. Just make the donation on the charity’s website after confirming it’s authentic, print up a card explaining the donation, and you’re done!
4. Baubles
Baubles are one of the best Christmas gift ideas for teachers because they are affordable, compact and pretty useful! And if their tree at home is already full, they can always hang it on the classroom’s tree!
I love the baubles at Creative Glams in Mgarr. Their Best Teacher bauble is simple yet gorgeous. Made with a beautiful white glass finish and available with different coloured bows, it’s a very affordable but thoughtful gift. Also available as L-aqwa Ghalliema tad-dinja, these baubles come packaged in a gorgeous Creative Glams box for an impressive presentation. If neither of these is quite right, they have other options for male teachers, child carers and LSEs.
5. A gift card
This one might sound like the easy way out of finding unique teacher gifts, but the truth is that many teachers have identified a gift card as the top gift they like to receive from students. It makes sense when you think about it; depending on how many students they have, many of them get upwards of 20 gifts at both Christmas and the end of the school year. This means they likely already have countless teacher-related trinkets, and the last thing they need is more items to store.
So, why not get a gift card to a place you know they’ll love, whether it’s a local bakery or coffee shop, your favourite restaurant, or a shop related to their hobby? It’s certain to be appreciated, and it even works well for teachers who you just haven’t gotten to know well enough to figure out what else to buy them!
Happy gift shopping!
Love,
Nakita xxx
