No matter how organised you are, you can never have enough time-saving tips! That’s because time is the one thing we never seem to have enough of.

Since we can’t just create more time (but how cool would that be?), the only thing we can do is use the time we do have more efficiently. In that spirit, I’ve compiled a list of easy time-saving tips that can save you at least three hours per week if you follow one or two of them every week!

  • Declutter: Decluttering can take you a few minutes every day, but it will never add up to the amount of time it takes you to sort through things, maintain more stuff (half of which you don’t need), and keep a clean and tidy home (when a lot of items are really just stuff you don’t need anymore).
  • Have a space for everything: You’ve probably heard it a million times, but that’s because it’s highly effective. Having a space for everything means you always know where to put things when you find them lying around. This means you’ll never end up with a huge pile of stuff that you just don’t know what to do with.
  • Plan your week: If you feel like you’re always running around from place to place with no rest, you might find that planning your week out saves a ton of time. It can help you spot areas where you can be efficient. For example, why would you make a special trip to the tailor’s to drop off that dress with the broken zipper on Thursday afternoon if it’s on the way home from your dentist appointment on Tuesday?
  • Shop online: I’m a huge fan of shopping online for pretty much everything, including groceries. Yes, it does take some time to choose what you want, but how much time would you have spent choosing an outfit, doing your hair and makeup, driving to and from the store, looking for a parking space, and battling the busy shops?
  • Have organised shopping lists (for everything): Whether you’re shopping online or in person, keeping organised shopping lists can make it go much faster. There are lots of apps and other tools that can make easy work of this for you.
  • Carpool with other parents for school and activities: Carpooling is an amazing time saver. If someone else in your neighbourhood has kids that go to your child’s school, take turns driving. This has the potential to save a huge amount of time! The same goes for friends who live nearby who do the same after-school activities as your kids.
  • Keep a list of birthday & other gift ideas: I like to keep birthdays saved in a calendar with a reminder set a week beforehand so I can shop for gifts online. And throughout the year, when someone mentions something they want or need, I always jot it down in a list I keep of gift ideas. That way, I don’t have to waste a whole afternoon browsing shops!
  • Delegate: Involve your kids in household tasks by assigning them something age-appropriate. Even if all they can do right now is match up socks from the laundry, it’s still a few minutes saved every time you run the washer and dryer.
  • Set a timer: When you need to do a task like clean the kitchen, set a timer for a few minutes less than you think it should take. Then, race yourself to get it done faster. Creative ways to save time don’t come much more fun than this!
  • Use a cleaning robot: If you live in a small apartment, you might not think you spend that much time sweeping the floor. But it’s something we all do every day – sometimes multiple times a day – and that can add up quickly. Let a robot do your vacuuming (and some also mop!) while you do more exciting things!
  • Wipe down the shower: This might sound like an extra task, but you can save a lot of scrubbing time when cleaning the bathroom if you wipe down the shower every time you get out. A few seconds each day can shave minutes off an arduous task at the end of the week!
  • Automate: It’s 2022 and there’s a lot to complain about, but we’re also living at a time when technology lets us automate nearly everything. Take advantage of things like paying bills with direct debit and letting a slow cooker make your dinner.
  • Batch cook: One of the biggest time-saving tips in my life is batch cooking. Our families have to eat every day, but that doesn’t mean we have to cook every day. Getting efficient in batch cooking takes some trial and error, but I’ve broken it down into doable chunks that are not only valuable, but FUN! Join me for out 4-day batch cooking challenge that starts on Monday. All you need is 20 minutes a day in your kitchen, for 4 days – and you’ll have a total of 9 freezer meals! We’ve organised live classes, prizes, and lots of surprises 😉
