If you’re a frequent reader of my blog, or you follow me on social media, then you already know how much I love IKEA products; and IKEA kitchen tools are no exception. They’re affordable, useful, and of great quality. That’s why, in this blog post, I’ll be sharing my top picks for must-have IKEA kitchen tools that I’ve come to love and rely on.
Whether you’re an experienced cook or just starting out in the kitchen, these IKEA essentials will make your life easier and more enjoyable. From versatile cutting boards to durable pots and pans, IKEA has something for everyone. So sit back, grab a cup of coffee, and let’s dive into my favourite IKEA kitchen tools!
1. ÖVERMÄTT Food covers
These are a must-have for any kitchen. They are made from high-quality silicone that is safe for use in the microwave and dishwasher, making them both practical and convenient. The stretchy material of the covers creates a tight seal over jars and smaller food containers (we use them a lot for Greek yogurt!), keeping food fresh and protected from spills or contamination. They’re versatile, easy to clean, and will brighten up your kitchen with their cheerful colours.

2. IKEA 365+ Silicone lid
I use these regularly as they super versatile and practical. This lid is made from high-quality silicone that is heat-resistant, flexible, and easy to clean. The round shape of the lid makes it perfect for covering small bowls or containers. It is microwave-safe, making it a convenient option for reheating small portions of leftovers, side dishes, or snacks. I use this often while meal prepping, cooking, or to keep snacks the kids will come back to safely covered.

3. ISTAD Resealable bags
I could not keep up with my batch cooking and freezer meals would it not be for these fantastic ziplock bags. They are a must-have for anyone who likes to batch cook and freeze, and also for mums, who carry lots of snacks. These bags come in five different sizes, making it easy to find the perfect size for your food storage needs. All of the bags are made from high-quality plastic that is thick and durable, making them perfect candidates for washing and reusing over and over. They’re practical, convenient, and come in a variety of sizes, making it easy to find the perfect fit for your needs. And the price is pretty decent too. See them here, here, and here (since they’re packaged in 3 different boxes ;-))
4. KORKEN clear glass bottle with stopper
The Korken Bottle with Stopper is a beautiful and functional addition to any kitchen. Made from clear glass, this bottle is perfect for storing filtered water, juices, or any other beverages you want to keep fresh and easily accessible. The included stopper creates a tight seal, keeping your drinks fresh and free from spills. The classic design of the bottle makes it a lovely decorative piece, adding a touch of elegance to any kitchen or table. Whether you’re using it to store filtered water dispensed from a water filter jug or tap (this is what I do), or for serving guests, this bottle’s a winner. We’ve had these for about 10 years and they’re still as good as new.
5. PRODUKT Milk frother
If you love a good cup of coffee or a creamy hot chocolate, this super cheap milk frother (it sells for €2!!) should be in your kitchen. Although I don’t drink coffee myself, this frother is perfect for frothing the milk for your chai latte. The kids absolutely love it when I froth their hot chocolate too!. With its compact design and easy-to-use battery-operated function, frothing milk has never been easier. The frother is made from high-quality materials that are safe for use with food and easy to clean.
6. BEVARA Sealing clips
This set of 30 sealing clips come in two different sizes, to be used depending on the size of the bag being secured. Whether you’re sealing bags of chips, snacks, frozen veggies or what not, these clips will keep your food fresh and secure. They’re made from durable plastic and are easy to use – simply clip them onto the bag and you’re done. I make it a point to carry these with me if we’re going on a picnic, cookout, to the beach, or even on holiday!
7. IKEA 365+ Food container with bamboo lid (600ml)
As someone who loves to prep and cook, having the right tools in my kitchen is important to me. This container is the perfect size for storing prepped ingredients or packing food to take with you somewhere, and the bamboo lid adds a touch of natural charm to your kitchen. The lid is secure and airtight, and it is made from high-quality glass. I love the fact that this container (sans lid), is oven and microwave proof, and the lid may be used as a coaster for it for when it is hot.
It’s also worth noting that there is a larger range in different sizes and with lids of different materials, such as plastic and silicone, but for me, this bamboo lid is my favourite. This size is also the one I find most practical.
8. KLOCKREN Splatter screen
As I’m cooking, I like to keep my kitchen as tidy as possible. And although I don’t pan-fry often, when I do, this splatter screen is a lifesaver. It’s designed to fit perfectly over pans and pots, preventing oil and food from splattering everywhere. This makes my life easier when it comes to cleaning up.
The screen is made from durable, heat-resistant material, so it can handle high temperatures without any issues. It’s also easy to clean and store, making it a convenient addition to any kitchen. If you’re someone who enjoys cooking but hates the mess that comes with it, this is definitely worth a try!
9. IKEA VÖRDA Knives
A good, sharp knife is as important for efficiency as it is for safety. The IKEA VÖRDA range of knives are well made, and excellent value for money. This chef’s knife specifically is perfect for a wide range of cutting tasks, from slicing vegetables to meat, it is pretty much an all-rounder . Its sharp blade makes cutting and prepping ingredients a breeze.
In addition to the cook’s knife, I also have the VÖRDA Paring Knife, the serrated (bread) knife, and the filleting knife. The smaller paring knife is great for more precise tasks, like peeling and coring. The serrated knife is perfect for cutting bread and tomatoes. I find that having these four knives in my kitchen is enough – I’m a little bit of a minimalist when it comes to cooking tools!
If you’re in the market for new kitchen knives and don’t want to spend a fortune, give these a try!
10. ASPEKT Knife sharpener
The IKEA ASPEKT Knife Sharpener is the perfect complement to my VÖRDA knives. Regular sharpening keeps my knives sharp and safe to use; in fact I make sure to sharpen them once a week. This knife sharpener is compact (I can store it in my knife and cutlery drawer) and it’s also easy to use. I love that I can quickly and easily sharpen my knives in just a few seconds. I’d bought it because it was so cheap (€7!), and I thought it would be worth a try – but it’s definitely a keeper!
In conclusion, my favourite kitchen tools from IKEA are a perfect combination of affordability, usefulness, and good quality. I hope you’ve found this blog post useful, and hopefully there’s an item or two on this list that you’ve been searching for or eyeing.
