I can’t believe it’s already time for my yearly list of my top 10 blog posts!
As we ring in 2023, many of us have high hopes for having a happier, healthier and better year. And as nice as it is to think about the future, I always like to take a quick look back at the end of the year to see which posts you enjoyed the most.
A look at 2022’s top posts shows that we’re all looking for ways to make our days simpler while ensuring our families are well-fed! It’s not surprising – we all want to make our lives as easy as possible, don’t we? And while I love that so many of you were looking for gift ideas to show your appreciation to teachers (#2 on the list), I also hope that every mum out there is taking time to take care of yourself as well!
As always, I’m going to share my top 10 blog posts for 2022 countdown-style in the spirit of New Year’s, going from the 10th most popular post to number 1.
Let’s dig in!
10. 7 slow cooker meal ideas for busy days
From easy drumsticks to teriyaki chicken and taco meat, this post illustrates how versatile your Crock-Pot can be!
Why I published this blog post: Slow cookers are the perfect helping hand on busy days, and I’ve made it a mission of mine to sing their praises every chance I get.
9. 7 practical ways to simply your daily routine
From avoiding distractions to planning better and finding ways to make chores fun, these tips are easy to implement and can make a real difference.
Why I published this blog post: We all have so many things to do in a day, but sometimes we overlook ways to get them all done more efficiently!
8. 8 little time wasters and how to avoid them
Those little things we do during the day that waste a few minutes here and there can really add up. But how can we avoid falling into these traps? I came up with 8 useful tips, and I’m so happy to see this in my top 10 blog posts!
Why I published this blog post: Avoiding these time wasters is another way that mums can get more of what we all need most: free time!
7. Kid-friendly freezer meal ideas they will love
From meatballs and casserole to pasta bakes with cleverly hidden vegetables, these family-friendly ideas can help you build a nice stash of freezer meals to get you through busy days.
Why I published this blog post: Freezer meals are a game-changer, but they’re most effective when everyone in the house is willing to eat them!
6. 7 things you didn’t think to put in your morning routine
Most of us don’t forget to brush our teeth or make our bed in the morning, and that proves the staying power of having a good morning routine. From prepping laundry to reviewing your meal plan, these helpful habits can make your days a lot easier when you do them in the morning.
Why I published this blog post: A morning routine is a great way to cross things off your list early so you have more time to relax later!
5. 10 Decluttering ideas for a rainy afternoon
If rain has spoiled your outdoor plans, these quick decluttering ideas can help you make your house look tidy quickly, leaving you with plenty of time to enjoy a rainy-day activity like playing games with your family.
Why I published this blog post: No one wants to be surrounded by clutter when they’re stuck inside on a rainy day!
4. My favourite IKEA home essentials for 2022
Is there really anywhere better to find useful, high-quality items for your home at an affordable price? From resealable bags and glass bottles to knives and artificial plants, here’s what to look out for the next time you venture to IKEA (or indulge in an online shop).
Why I published this blog post: Going to (or shopping from) IKEA is fun, but it can also be pretty overwhelming, so I shared 10 must-haves for mums who want a beautiful and organised home.
3. How to save big & spend less on groceries this month
It was no surprise at all to see this post make my list of top 10 blog posts given the current state of the economy. I know a lot of us are changing our shopping habits, and things like shopping the lower shelves at the store and regular meal planning can make all the difference right now.
Why I published this blog post: With inflation showing no signs of slowing down and food prices hitting record highs, I figured we could all use some good ways to save money on groceries!
2. 10 useful gifts for teachers to show your appreciation
There are lots of ways to show your children’s teachers you appreciate them, whether you make a custom recipe box for them or get them a gorgeous lap desk to work comfortably at home.
Why I published this blog post: Teachers do so much for our kids, and it’s nice to put some thought into their gift instead of going for the more predictable options.
And the winner is….
1. Smart storage solutions for after-school activity bags (whatever size your home is)
I was honestly surprised to see this take top honours, even though I personally find it quite useful to have a well-organised school activity bag station of some sort. With ideas for smaller spaces, bigger homes, and those with spare closets, I tried to cover all the bases here so we can all have a bit more order and peace!
Why I published this blog post: The frustration of tripping over bags in the entryway, or struggling to find space for them in smaller homes, and then rushing around to get everyone’s bags packed before after-school activities is real. I hope these ideas can help every mum put an end to this chaos!
Overall, I’d say 2022 was a much calmer year than 2021 and 2020, and I couldn’t be more grateful for that! Be sure to check out the posts you missed – you may well pick up a few tips that can make life easier in 2023!
