Ok, so maybe I am being a little dramatic πŸ˜… But these audiobooks really did impact me, and bettered my life in one way or another. Some more than others, or rather, the significance of some was more than another audiobook.

Let me get right to it.

1. French kids eat everything, Karen Le Billon

The subtext on the cover reads: ‘How our family moved to France, cured picky eating, banned snacking, and discovered 10 simple rules for raising happy, healthy eaters.’ This left me a little sceptic and unsure if Karen Le Billon’s experience would be of any help to me at all.
I have two children, Nina is 6 and Yanik is 15. Yanik was an extremely picky eater up till age 10 or 11, after which he started to eat and enjoy almost every food. Nina is a picky eater too. Although I know that Yanik grew out of it (I do not deserve any credit), I still stressed about her eating habits. I was very anxious for Yanik’s first 10 years of his life too, constantly worrying about what he was eating and trying to coax him into eating healthy foods with no success.
This audiobook helped me reframe my thinking. There’s some great advice in there which I followed most of, and I can honestly say that Nina is a much better eater thanks to it. I’ve listened to this once till now, but I know I will have another listen soon because I feel I need a refresher.

2. Decluttering at the speed of life, Dana K. White

If this audiobook doesn’t make you drop whatever you are doing to go and declutter, then I don’t know what will.

Dana K. White does an amazing job of taking you through how to declutter effectively, even if you have little time. You get implementation strategies and tips you can actually apply on the spot. If you ever needed someone to encourage you to go declutter, Dana is your gal.

3. Raising your spirited child, Mary Sheedy Kurcinka

This is another audiobook I need to have another go at. As I listened to this one, I found myself nodding.

Parenting expert Mary Sheeda Kurcinka dives deep into the beautiful yet challenging characteristics of spirited children, and helps you understand why your child acts the way she or he does, how to prevent meltdowns, and how to keep your cool as you cope with tantrums, arguments, hard headedness and more behavioural issues.

If your child is over the ‘terrible twos’ age yet you still find yourself struggling with these behaviours and emotional outbursts – you are not alone – and, this audiobook is just what you need.

4. How to stop worrying and start living, Dale Carnegie

I’d previously read this book years back when I was going through a rough patch and anxiety was getting the best of me. It was suggested to me as part of my ‘to-do’s’ to fight anxiety and all of it’s ugly symptoms.

I cannot praise it enough; this books really teaches you how to put things in perspective and opens your eyes to the severity (or lack of) your worries – because most of the time we really worry too much. Stress, anxiety, worry, whatever it is, I truly recommend you listen to this audiobook.

Ever since I discovered it’s on BookBeat I’ve listened to it another 2 times (every time my worries start to spiral again, that is!)

This book was first published in 1948 and millions of people swear by it. Go on, have a listen!
