If you’re stuck in a rut and need meal planning ideas, or just that extra push to make an effort and start to meal prep or batch cook, and get organised in the kitchen, read on.

When I know that someone I can relate to is successful in something I want to do myself, it gives me a ray of hope.

Read the success stories of these 3 amazing mums who went all in and are living a totally different life to that of pre-Dinner in a Flash. If you can see yourself in one of these stories, and want the success that they have had, then Dinner in a Flash is for you!

The working mum who saw cooking as the ultimate chore: Liana Vella Zarb

FROM: “with all my commitments I was finding myself having to choose between cooking and spending time with my family.”

TO: “I now cook twice a week. Yes, you read well. Twice a week. And my family eats healthy home cooked meals every single day.”

BIGGEST TAKEAWAY: “You don’t need to cook everyday to serve fresh home cooked food. Boom. Mind blown!”

PRO TIP TO FOLLOW IN LIANA’S FOOTSTEPS: It will take a few weeks to build up your repertoire, but once you’re in full swing, this will work wonders! Cook twice a week and triple your portions. That’s dinner, sorted.

The stay-at-home mum struggling to find balance with picky eaters: Fiona Dalmas

FROM: “Meal times were always super stressful as I have 2 very fussy eaters. I’d attempted to meal plan in the past but I had no system in place. It was all hit and miss and we never really stuck to it.”

TO: “I have completely changed my mealtime planning process. I cannot tell you the amount of time I have gained.. now having 2 to 3 blissful days where I don’t have to cook at all! I never thought that would be possible.”

BIGGEST TAKEAWAY: “I am so, so thankful that I signed up for the course as I have gained so much valuable information that you really cannot find anywhere else.”

PRO TIP TO FOLLOW IN FIONA’S FOOTSTEPS: Deconstruct your meals so your fussy eaters can have a go at tasting everything. For example, serve roasted chicken, steamed carrots and baked potato (literally separate from one another in case that is how your child prefers it). Once you start to dial down on the foods your child enjoys, make note of them. Find ways to batch cook it or get some meal prep in, so you can lessen the stress and be on the road to less dinnertime drama, and less time in the kitchen, too!

The stressed-out mum of 2 about to go back to work after maternity leave: Nicola Cherry

FROM: “Pre-DIAF I never meal planned and left things to the last minute. I was constantly calling my husband on my way home so he could check what we had in the pantry and he would rush off to buy what we lacked. I was stressed out, and never had decent quality time in the evenings with my family.”

TO: “I batch cook on less busy evenings, and my pantry and freezer are super organised. This means I have dinner ready for those hectic days when I need to run around with the kids.”

BIGGEST TAKEAWAY: “I can take nights off from the cooking without feeling guilty. In short – I now know what’s on my meal plan and can pull out a pre made meal and BAM dinner in a flash!”

PRO TIP TO FOLLOW IN NICOLA’S FOOTSTEPS: When planning the week ahead make note of the days when you need to have dinner ready in minutes, and those where you have the luxury of 30 mins to an hour to prepare it. Double or triple meals on the latter days, and serve them on the days where you need it ready practically as you walk through the door.
